Hot Chocolate Heaven

One of our monthly web specials for November is our Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate (click here to get yours ordered) and since winter is creeping up on us a little too early this year, we need hot chocolate to survive! Since the temperature was at 12 degrees this morning we’ll share some delicious hot chocolate recipes to help keep a little variety in the mix.

Candy Cane Cocoa 

Ingredients

  • 4 cups milk
  • 4 packets Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate
  • 4 peppermint candy canes, crushed
  • 1 cup whipped cream
  • 4 small peppermint candy canes

Directions

  1. In a saucepan, heat milk until hot, but not boiling. Whisk in the hot chocolate packets and the crushed peppermint candies until melted and smooth. Pour hot cocoa into four mugs, and garnish with whipped cream. Serve each with a candy cane stirring stick. Serves 4.

Mexican Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons Swiss Miss hot chocolate mix (1 packet)
  • 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 pinch chili powder
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3/4 cup boiling water

Directions

  1. In a large mug, mix the hot chocolate mix, chocolate syrup, cinnamon, and chili powder. Pour in the milk. Add the boiling water and stir. Serves 2.

 

Maple Hot Chocolate

Ingredients

  • 4 packets Swiss Miss Hot Chocolate
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1 tablespoon butter or margarine
  • 4 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon maple flavoring
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 12 large marshmallows

Directions

  1. In a large saucepan, combine hot chocolate and salt. Stir in hot water and butter; bring to a boil. Add the milk, maple flavoring, vanilla and 8 marshmallows. Heat through, stirring occasionally, until marshmallows are melted. Ladle into mugs and top each with a marshmallow. Serves 4
